Description of work and disruption

Work to paint the road markings on Christmas Street in the city centre will take place on Friday 23 January.

It means that Christmas Street will need to be closed while the work takes place.

Part of Nelson Street will be made two-way during the closure to allow access.

Access for pedestrians and cyclists

Access for pedestrians and cyclists is being maintained but please dismount from your bike.

Access for motor vehicles

A diversion will be in place while Christmas Street is closed on Friday 23 January.

Access to Small Street will be via Colston Avenue and Colston Avenue South.

Access to the other end of Quay Street will be via Bridewell Street, which will be two-way while the closure is in place.

Part of Nelson Street will also be made two-way during the closure to allow access.

Access for buses

Services that use Christmas Street, including the 71, 1, 2, 2a, 9, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 6, 7, 16 and 5, will continue east along Lewins Mead, turn around on the St James Barton Roundabout (Bearpit) then turn left in to Bridewell Street to pick up their normal route along Nelson Street.

Services that usually stop at Nelson Street B5 will stop at Nelson Street B3 outside The Island community arts venue and event space.
