Welcome to Bristol on the Move

Work to transform Bristol’s transport network, to respond to changes in the way we travel and use public spaces, is gearing up.

We’re working in partnership to make bus travel quicker and more reliable; create safer routes to walk, wheel and cycle; and transform public spaces to support our high streets.

From the way we all access and travel through the city centre and Broadmead to much used transport corridors, including the A4 Portway and the A37 and A4018, Bristol is on the move!

Upcoming investigatory works at Bedminster Bridges Roundabout

To help plan construction work to not only refurbish Bedminster Bridges, but to transform how people travel over them, investigatory and preparatory work will take place from 16 February for around three weeks.

Projects reviewed following allocation of funding

On 5 February, Bristol City Council’s Transport & Connectivity Committee reviewed its City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) programme, after the amounts allocated across the region were confirmed by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority.

Proposed changes to multi-million pound transport projects to be considered

Bus Route 2 and Broadmead are two of six major projects, designed to improve sustainable transport options across the city, that are set to be reviewed by Bristol City Council’s Transport and Connectivity Committee when they meet on Thursday 5 February 2026.

Bus Route 2

Whiteladies Road project extended into the new year

Construction work, to prevent water from pooling and to improve walking, wheeling and cycling routes on the lower part of Whiteladies Road, has started up again after onsite investigations into underground drainage issues were completed.
