Description of work and disruption

We need to close Christmas Street again so we can resurface it. A section of Quay Street, where it meets Christmas Street, will also be closed.

The work will take place on Friday 31 October between 8am and 4pm.

Access for pedestrians and cyclists

Access for pedestrians and cyclists is being maintained but please dismount from your bike.

Access for motor vehicles

A diversion will be in place for drivers.

You can access Small Street via Colston Avenue and Colston Avenue South.

To access the other end of Quay Street you will need to travel via Bridewell Street, which will be two-way during the resurfacing works.

Access for buses

Services that use Christmas Street – including the 71, 1, 2, 2a, 9, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 6, 7, 16 and 5 – will continue east along Lewins Mead, turn around on the St James Barton Roundabout (Bearpit) then turn left in to Bridewell Street to pick up their normal route along Nelson Street.

Services that usually stop at Nelson Street B5 will stop at Nelson Street B3 outside The Island community arts venue and event space.
